Good Practice : President of the National İnformation Centre on Human Rights

The Azerbaijan National Information Center on Human Rights (NICHR) established in 2005 and was registered on May 10,2006. NICHR unites over 150 students, graduates,and,intellectual young people from different universities of Azerbaijan, studying or dealing with Law, International relations, International law,and, diplomacy. NICHR is a non political,non commercial,voluntary,independent youth association. Its aims – to carry out comprehensive legal reforms. NICHR provide some project on human rights, child's rights and collaborated together governmental and non-governmental organizations. NICHR also wants to carry out the legal advocacy center for no supporting peoples. The main purpose of organization, providing support to education in the field of human rights , and to provide legal advocacy for everyone.

Aims / Objectives :

Main goals and objectives of the response strategy (NICHR) are: - To organize the enlightenment, and propaganda in the field of human rights protection; - To create the cooperation of lawyers in the field of child’s rights, women’s rights, protection of nation minorities, with legal education development way; - Legal advocacy for everybody; - Gender equality; - Building confidence in and enhancing the reliability and transparency of democratic electoral processes, in particular through election observation; - Enhancing respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms in countries and regions where they are most at risk; - Strengthening the international and regional framework for the protection of human rights, justice, the rule of law and the promotion of democracy; - To take an active part in World legal integration process; - To make young people and multipliers aware of human rights and the common values European and democratic citizens share and to provide them with the skills and tools to participate actively and to enhance their activities in this context; - To carry out the defense work at the court trial, pertaining violence of human rights; - To carry out the preparatory works of lawyers in the field of Juvenile Justice; - To support for preparation of experienced facilitator lawyers in direction field; - Preparation of reports, reflected current circumstances of courts in Azerbaijan; - To involve lawyer students to organization activities; - To foster equal opportunities for all, especially for those at risk of exclusion by providing exchange of knowledge and practice and by supporting the development of a sense of solidarity; - Strengthening the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, in supporting the peaceful conciliation of group interests and in consolidating political participation and representation; - To exemplify (make clear, make explicit) the connection between European Citizenship, Human Rights, Democracy, and ICL as well as the underlying values. After beginning its activities, the students from law and international law faculties of universities were involved to organization. The permanently trainings conduct for students, in the field of human rights. There are many complains were addressed to organization connected human rights violation.

Structure of the organization:

There are different Departments and Centers specialized in various spheres within the organization:

International Relations Department;
Public Relations Department;
Organizational matters Department;
Training center of young lawyers
Gender, Science, Education and Culture Department;
Peace and Security Research Department;
Finance and Law Department;

The board of the Union consist of 8 members. President of the organization is Rashid Rumzada (Ambassador for Peace in the World and lawyer)The staff members of organization give legal advices for applicants. At the same time the defention of applied persons, carry out at the courts and at different state agencies. The defention works of applicants carry out in the regions also, besides Baku city. All services provided by organization are free of charge.
