The theme of this year will be SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT, in the Framework of the 2010 UN International Year of Youth ‘‘Dialogue and Mutual understanding’’. Submit your activity proposal and contribute to build the University! Deadline for submission of proposals is 5th March 2010.

News :

Since its first edition in 2000, the University takes place once a year and aims at becoming the space and home of Global Youth Work and of the Global Youth Movement. The goals of the University on Youth and Development are: - To create a political space where youth can act upon and acknowledge the role they play in Global Development. - To initiate and encourage debate aimed at defining the role youth play in elaborating development policies and in co-operation for development initiatives. - To facilitate a process aimed at defining and implementing projects within the field of youth. This year the University will be held around the promotion of awareness and discussions on Sustainable Development and its connection with human rights and fundamental freedoms, progress, solidarity, peace and security, the fulfillment of which are essential in order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals set by the UN. The key role that young people and youth organization play in this process will be also emphasized. The activities that partners will bring to the University are therefore encouraged to be a contribution to this debate. To propose an activity to be held at the University, fill in the ‘Activity proposal form’ and submit it by 5th of March 2010. For more information on the activity criteria and the expenses coverage check the attached document ‘Call for partners’.The selected partners are expected to build together the University and its Programme and to actively take part in the preparatory process and meetings, in particular a preparatory partner’s meeting is forseen for May-June 2010.The University on Youth and Development is an activity jointly organised by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, the Spanish Government (INJUVE), the European Youth Forum (YFJ), the Spanish Youth Council (CJE) and other international youth organisations.
